Azali Ackuaku

Azali is the Head of the firm’s Dispute Resolution Team. He has distinguished himself as a firm, resolute, and convincing advocate over the years. He is a result-oriented practitioner with unrelenting focus on the delivery of value and satisfaction to the client.

Azali obtained his LLB from the University of Ghana and a Qualifying Certificate to practice law from the Ghana School of Law where he won the award for the best graduating student in Legislative Drafting.

Apart from leading the firm’s team of advocates, Azali is deeply involved in the corporate side of the firm’s business where he drafts opinions, drafts and reviews agreements, and provides general advisory services for a number of the firms A-List corporate clients. Azali is a member of the Ghana Bar Association.

• Lead counsel for MG Ghana Ltd and Mac Autos and Spare Parts in an arbitration for the recovery of over USD18,000,000.
• Lead counsel for PricewaterhouCoopers Ghana Ltd (PwC) in a number of receivership related proceedings
• Lead counsel for PwC in a suit involving UBA Ghana Ltd and Chase Petroleum Ltd
• Lead counsel for PwC on a project to develop risk based supervisory and regulatory framework for the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Ghana
• Lead counsel for Media General Ghana Ltd in a matter in which he successfully secured a judgment leading to the setting aside of a foreign arbitral award
• Lead counsel for Media General Ghana Ltd in a number of civil suits before the High Court of Ghana
• Supporting counsel for Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Ltd in a consolidated suit for the recovery of US$7,770,852.77 and GHS5,938,897.99 from Afrotropic Cocoa Processing Ltd
• Supporting counsel for XCMG Ghana Ltd for the recovery of US$13,827,459.93 from J.A. Plant Pool Ltd and Another
• Supporting counsel to Prof. Albert Fiadjoe (representing UT Bank Limited) in arbitration proceedings at the London Court of Arbitration (LCIA) between Shikari Ltd and UT Bank Ltd
• Rendered various opinions to the Receivers of some banks and deposit-taking institutions during the banking sector clean up on various provisions of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930)
• Rendered various legal opinions to Sunon-Asogli Power (Ghana) Limited Company on the laws of Ghana relating to the operations its multi-million-dollar 540MW power plant among others
• Rendered various legal opinions to Chirano Gold Mines on the laws of Ghana with a bearing on its multi-million-dollar mining operations in Ghana
• Rendered various legal opinions to the Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) on the laws of Ghana
